How to downgrade to Basic:
- Log in to spotify.com on desktop (the mobile app hides this path).
- Click your profile picture in the top right, then choose Account.
- Scroll to "Your plan" and click Change plan.
- Scroll past Premium options. Look for "Basic" or a small prompt that says "Looking for the Basic plan?".
- Click Get Basic. If you do not see it, Spotify has already blocked the tier in your region.
- Confirm. The downgrade takes effect at your next billing cycle — you keep Premium features until then.

Can I sign up for Spotify Basic as a new user?
No. As of 2026, Basic is only reachable as a downgrade from Premium Individual — the option is hidden on fresh accounts. Subscribe to Premium first, then follow the six-step downgrade path shown in the tool above.
Is the Family Plan legit if members are not at the same address?
Technically no — the ToS require one physical address, and Spotify verifies via IP geolocation periodically. Enforcement has historically been soft but not zero. If you want a verified shared slot without the address requirement, GamsGo is the widely-used alternative.
